In Sweden, there are over three million people with asthma, allergies, or other sensitivities. With their best interests in mind, we work to increase engagement in asthma and allergy issues within society. We do this by spreading information, advocating for change, and funding research in the field. In recent years, our work has contributed to stricter tobacco laws, the prohibition of nickel in coins and jewelry, and the labeling of allergy-friendly products.
The Asthma and Allergy Association is a democratically governed membership organization with 85 local associations and 15 regional associations throughout the country. Here, people with asthma and allergies, as well as their relatives, come together to support and help each other and to influence our society at the regional and local levels.
Both the local and regional associations are independent and have their own boards elected at the associations’ annual meetings. By participating in the activities of the allergy association, you can meet others in the same situation as yourself. There, you can learn more about your own and others’ allergic diseases.
