Anhörigas Riksförbund
Anhörigas Riksförbund was founded in 1996 and is Sweden’s only national organization working to improve the living conditions for caregivers, regardless of the age or diagnosis of their loved ones.
In our society, there are many individuals who, due to disability, illness, or old age, require assistance in their daily lives. Often, it is a caregiver who steps in when the public care system ends, all to provide the care recipient with a good life. In fact, about 75% of all care provided in Sweden is performed by a caregiver. We believe that this is fundamentally a positive thing, as long as it is voluntary, but it should be accompanied by support from society. Helping, supporting, or caring for a family member, relative, or friend in need should not have negative consequences for one’s own health and life situation.
Anhörigas Riksförbund is a politically and religiously independent interest organization that works to ensure that caregivers have favorable conditions to support their loved ones. At the same time, we want to ensure that caregivers themselves have the opportunity to live a good life. Society should not exploit people’s love, sense of responsibility, and goodwill. The overall goals of Anhörigas Riksförbund are to:
support caregivers in their situations and advocate for their interests, thereby contributing to a better quality of life for caregivers and their loved ones.
promote the formation of local associations and support them in their activities.
influence society to raise awareness of and value the situation of caregivers.
achieve greater understanding and appreciation of caregivers’ work through educational and informational efforts.
participate in and promote current research and development in the field of caregiving nationally and internationally.
