Alzheimer Sweden is a nationwide patient and family organization for people living with a cognitive disease and their relatives and loved ones.
Our task is to provide advice and support to patients and relatives, highlight and illuminate the problems and opportunities that exist for those affected, and work for better care and service for people with memory diseases.
We really wish we weren’t needed, but today more than 160,000 Swedes live with Alzheimer’s or another severe cognitive disease. Each year, an additional 25,000 people receive a diagnosis and the dark figure is huge.
At a low estimate, about 600,000 people are relatives and if you also include care and service personnel, there are over 1,000,000 people directly affected by the cognitive diseases.
Alzheimer Sweden exists to provide advice and support and works to create the best possible quality of life during the illness.
