They produce information and publish the magazine APHASIA four times a year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Aphasia Association influences decision-makers in municipalities, county councils, and the parliament, and cooperates with other organizations that work for the interests of the disabled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Association is based in Stockholm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acquired damage in the left hemisphere of the brain can lead to Aphasia. This is common after a stroke, but can also be caused by tumors or accidents, injuries, or violence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every year, between 8,000 and 10,000 people develop aphasia. Of these, about 35 percent are of working age.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is aphasia? Aphasia comes from the Latin A= without Fasi=language. Aphasia can mean difficulties in speaking, understanding speech, reading and\/or writing, and also recognizing numbers and counting.
